Parents as Teachers
Our Parents as Teachers program provides free, personalized support for families in Park County with children from birth to age five. Through twice-monthly home visits, our Parent Support Specialists partner with families to promote healthy child development, strengthen parenting skills, and connect families with community resources. Services continue until your child enters kindergarten, and participation is always voluntary.
During visits, Parent Support Specialists:
-
Monitor your child's development through regular developmental screenings, including physical, language, cognitive, and social-emotional growth.
-
Provide engaging, age-appropriate activities that support learning through play.
-
Gift your child a new, high-quality children's book at every visit to encourage early literacy.
-
Offer guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear as you navigate the joys and challenges of parenting.
-
Connect your family with local resources and services that meet your unique needs.
Our goal is to support parents as their child's first and most important teacher while helping children build a strong foundation for future success.
